Moshi Ramen Review

Hi! This time i going to review one of my favorite food from one of my favorite place called Moshi Ramen, in Malang, East Java. Moshi Ramen is a cafe, or more like a small restaurant that has a varian Japanese noodles with varian toppings, and has other Japanese foods too. Looking for a good tastes and of course Halal ramen in town has been such a struggle for me. Yes, there are so many Japanese restaurants that already famous, and delicious, too. But i think Moshi Ramen has the most authentic taste than the other Japanese Restaurants’ in town, and  with an affordable price!

So, back in 2016, was the first time i came to Moshi Ramen. That time i ordered one of their ramen called  Shifudo Ramen (with tempura shrimp, narutomaki, seaweed, and gyoza), yakitori (chicken pieces grilled on a skewer), and green tea. They have a tagline “Halal, tasty, no worry!”, i certainly didn’t expected much at first, but it turned out that i’ve addicted to all the food there since then.

What’s the special thing about the ramen? Well, everything’s special for me.  The noodle is really good, i think it’s a lot thicker than any ramen in other places, and chewy, which i like the most. the flavour of the broth soup is light. It's quite hard to describe, there are savory sweet, salty, and a distinctive flavor of seaweed. It’s not overly heavy, it’s the type of broth that i could just keep eating and not feel like it’s too much for me. And i like all of the toppings, the tempura shrimp is big and cooked perfectly crunchy, the egg is soft-boiled, and the beef is thicker than you find at a regular ramen places, the portion for one ramen is just perfect. So, believe me, it is that good. Anyway, you can choose your own ramen, they offer white noodle and black noodle, just choose which one do you prefer, and choose what toppings do you like to add.

Talk about the place, this place basically is just a small-cozy place with a Japanese’s interior design that gives you warm vibes. There may be only 9 wooden tables lined up like street stalls on a side street of Tokyo, a tv, and an Air-Conditioning. The place is clean, suitable for eating with friends or family. And no worry because it has a Musholla in the basement.

The service in Moshi Ramen is really good. The waiters and waitresses are so kind, everytime a customer comes in they’ll be warmly welcoming you with Japanese language "irasshaimase!" and "arigatou gozaimase" when you go out. This place opens everyday from 9 am to 9 pm, except in Friday, it opens from 2pm.

From year to year, Moshi ramen never disappoints me, they keep upgrading their menu with much more variations like sushi, tsukemen, spicy gyoza, bento box, omurice, and even Matcha ice cream for a dessert. The price is from Rp. 10.000 - Rp. 35.000. Although the main menu is ramen, but please don’t underestimate the other choices. My favorite food here are almost everything on the menu. But spicy ramen, cold tsukemen, and gyoza are in my top 3. As a ramen lover like me, Moshi ramen’s been my small heaven. And, um, until now i still haven’t found a better ramen restaurant than this. Seriously.

Top Gear : Polar Special Review

Top Gear : Polar Special Review

On this occasion, i will be reviewing one episode from the best motoring show in the world. I mean, ‘was’ the best motoring show 😉. As the title said, It’s a special edition episode where the three Top Gear presenter went to the North Pole to break a record to be the firs people to reach the Magnetic Pole in a motor vehicle. But, to make it more competitive like all the previous top gear episode. This time, Richard Hammond will be travel with a Dog Sled, which is  a traditional way of the Arctic transport. But he was accompanied by a Proffesional Polar Explorer ‘Matty McNair’ and her Dog Team. And they will race againts two other Top Gear Presenter Jeremy Clarkson and James May that driving a Heavily Modified Toyota Hilux.

Before the journey begin, they were required to have a cold-weather training that taught them to survive from the cold that can be up to -50 degrees and also a basic survival skills. Because, there’s no hospital or a small town across their route. They have to make their own tent, own food, and carefully not to drown into arctic freezing water.

After all being set. The race begin ! The car went smoothly as they left richard hammond miles away at the first stage of the race. In this first stage, The ice surface is flat, so the car have no issues to put the gas down and went full speed. But in the other hand, even though the surface is flat, The Dog Sled maximum speed is only 22km/h. Way more slow than the car.  But, it doesn’t last long though. Later the car have to contend with thin ice where they could plunge into the freezing water if they go to fast as the tire friction will be giving more pressure to the surface and make the ice crack. As the first day begin to an end, the car has the lead.

In the next day, the car will be facing the hardest part of it’s journey. It was a stage where there is so many ice boulders that stretches along their way. They got stuck over and over again while finding the best path to go through the boulder ice. It takes them 3 hour just to go 5km, and it gets worst when they have to go back and finding another route. For a day, they only travel 10-15km, while the dog team finally arrive in the boulder ice stage.

And after a couple of day, the car has across the boulder fields of ice and went to catch the dog team that easily pass the stage. In the final stage, they have different route. The dog use the shortest route but with thin ice, while the car has to go around in the safer route to avoid thin ice. But, finally the car has succesfully arrive in the magnetic pole while Richard Hammond never made it to the pole as it was felt cruel to make him go on.

In my opinion, it was the best special episode they have ever done. Because it’s different from they usually do. This thing was more intense and feels like more real then the other episode. While they usually have a prank with each other, this episode it’s just make them solid as a team(excluding hammond). Even though throughout the journey there is some moment where clarkson make fun of may, but overall it’s all good.
